Library Cards

How many items can I check out?

Adults who have library cards have no limit on the amount of print items they can check out. There is a limit of 15 movies or CDs. They may also check out up to 10 eBooks or eAudiobooks at a time.

How do I get a Library Card?

You must bring in a photo identification and proof of residence. Proof of residence can be in the form of a piece of mail,  a water or power bill or a recent lease agreement.

Why is there a fee if I live in the county?

All library users pay a fee. Residents of the City of Jerome have already paid their library fee through their annual property taxes. A small portion of their taxes support the Jerome Library.

If you live outside the Jerome City limits, none of your annual property tax supports the library as you only pay county taxes.  The library fee for rural residents is $40.00 per year.

What if I live outside the City limits, but own City property?

If you own property within Jerome City limits, you are paying city taxes. Therefore, there is no additional fee for a library card. Be sure to bring a tax bill or utility bill which identifies you as the owner.

What if I am 65 years or older?

If you are 65 or older and live outside Jerome City limits, you can request that your rural fee be waived. If your fee is waived, you may checkout physical items from the library. However, those who would like to access digital content through the Libby app must pay a rural fee of $40.00 per houshold.

Can my child have a card?

Children age 5 or above who live inside Jerome City limits may have a card that is associated with a parent or guardian account. Children with these family cards are allowed to check out up to 8 items.

Students of the Jerome School District who live outside Jerome City limits may obtain a student card.  Students must provide a student ID, school registration, or report card as proof of attendance in the Jerome School District.

Children who have a student card are allowed to checkout up to 4 items for their use. For digital content, student may access the Sora app and login with their school credentials.

Parental written permission must be on file for any minor to obtain a card.
